Whitewater Rafting!

Whitewater refers to the turbulent, frothy water caused by the agitated flow of a river. The term ‘whitewater’ is often used for rapids. Whitewater rafting, kayaking, canoeing are popular sports.

We chose the South Fork American River for our first whitewater rafting experience. This fork has class III rapids. Our group opted for a 4 hour, 12 mile adventure. If everyone in the group is comfortable with class III-IV rapids and preferably know to swim, you can opt for the Middle Fork American river. There are options for 2-day, 1-day and 1/2 day trips. You even have options for the section of the river you want to do. Whatever you choose, you are bound to have a great experience!

The South Fork American river is so popular that there are various photographers (both arranged by your tour operator and 3rd party ones) covering your adventure. The pictures will be sold to you in a CD, after your trip. Do check with your tour operator if they have arrangements for a photographer.

Be prepared to be drenched from head to toe. You are most likely to literally take in some of the river as well! :) Do take sunglasses and wear sunscreen. You will be given life-vests and the guide in your raft will take care of your safety!

Rest assured, this is an adventure you got to try atleast once in your lifetime!
